its not even been 10 hours and im on the closes page i can be to opt out and it wont let me. im in the uk lol. yet it says its changing on how its going to collecting our data so opt out isnt available atm

I deleted my FB account looooong ago. I block Meta domains. This is yet another clear indication that I made the right choice long ago. The writing was on the wall shortly after FB opened up to the public, and no longer required a .edu email address. They kept changing their privacy policy and including language that was more and more intrusive. I saw what was coming. I wish more people had seen it and taken a stand.

What should work is calling your local reps and fight Meta legally.

These things should ALL be opt in only. And if the platform want's to encourage folks to opt in, and/or provide an incentive, that is reasonable. But should alway start as opt in and default should be opting out.

I never ha a Social Network account, never FB, Twitter, Instagram, anything, even before AI hype advent their licenses allowed them to do nasty things. Unfortunately LinkedIn is required by some employers. In Brazil those collections are forbidden by law in theory you should not even need to opt out (all must be opt in) but who knows?

I've deleted my account, and my Facebook is barren. I also moved off Adobe in favor of Affinity, so maybe the solution to removing the instagram link from my myportfolio site is to stop proxying it and just actually host something myself

I don't have a problem with being a ghost in Meta's machine. Whatever kind of crummy dataset they can get from training on a bunch of MAGA, antivax insanity I'll be glad to compound fitting of their scalers. Let Zuck come up with the Ultimate Jello Casserole assistant for Republican fundraisers; the real danger of Fb is already in place in the form of manipulating what you see and your reflexivity metrics. What we should be fighting is corporate fascism; banning the Darth Vader flex of "the terms of your agreement have changed" bs that the Peasantry doesn't have. That's much more important IMO....

Great information - thank you so much for the video, as always. Just one question, though: Have you ever successfully deleted a Facebook account? I have tried to help clients do so in the past, and at least as of about 3 years ago, all you could do was remove all photographs and as much personal information as possible from the account and then submit the account deletion request to Facebook as the online help system directed. However, the last step of the process, actually removing the account, was up to Facebook, to be done on their schedule. If at all, it turned out. In at least one client's case, Facebook simply didn't honor the request, and the unwanted accounts are still sitting out there. After that experience, anytime someone ask me to help them close a social media account, I refer them to a purported social media expert. I'm a paid IT consultant, and I refrain from taking on projects where I have zero control over the success or failure.

This form isn't available in Canada. 😡🤬. Feeling it's time to delete these account sooner then later. Instagram solution doesn't work for me since. the option isn't available

One thing about Yubikey is still a question mark for me. How does it work if you use a computer that isn't physical, like a VDI? Or if, like me, you have five computers locally? Do I need one for each? I guess I would, if I don't want to make a bunch of USB extensions and have them terminate at the end of my desk in a bundle, so I can plug the key in when required. I guess a USB slot on a keyboard that's shared via software KVM would work, as I use software KVM anyways.

why should anyone secure anything, AI will just come and scoop everything up regardless , think of it, you securely log into your online account , and then the AI scoops it up for free, then takes your job, yes, your job too

So what happens if you move from a non-GDPR country to a GDPR country? You changed all the settings indicating you made the change won't they be in violation of GDPR if you did actually move?

I deleted my FB account in like 2010. The reason was I heard a little kid talk about social media her quote was "FB is for old people". I kept Instagram for a while and deleted it in like 2022. So late 2023 I go maybe I should have an Instagram account again. I go to sign up and I used two different emails each time. But here's the best part each time Meta said I was a robot and not a real person. I did the whole spin and prove you're a person thing, but I guess I'm not. The only thing I can figure out is I block FB cookies, but not Instagram ones. So I guess that makes me "not worthy" of an account.

I keep seeing artists getting AI-tagged when all they did was use maybe photoshop on the image. Zero generating anything. Also IG is butchering the visibility of artists. It's insane.
